What is...I don't even...

I have to be honest...I don't really know what's going on in this animation.

The sprite presentation needs a lot of work, but it's not terrible. The author has a basic understanding of choreography for battles, but it's really novice.

Also, the music over loops into itself, which is really annoying.

kirbyky100 responds:

im pretty much a beginnner.....the 3D graphics r pretty kool u gotta admit...no where near as good as Alvins......the baseball scene is a flashbak...and mecha sonic and tht bannedstory character apperaed cuz of my 1st flashe's story

Breath taking

The atmosphere was perfect for the play and the animation styling was just magnificent.

The audio was spot on as well, never too loud, never too quiet. The music gave the video a perfect pacing.

I thought I was impressed watching it here on NG until I saw how it was presented to the audience on your user page...My god...that's incredible.

TheBoogley responds:

Did you just call me your god? I'm pretty sure you did. You were all like, "I saw how it was presented to the audience on your user page, My god."
And so it was written, that therefore I am now your god... :3

Damn straight!

The animation was actually pretty good for such simplicity used.

Another great episode, if not very short

I was hoping for a much longer episode this time around, but that's okay. The bonus scene was hilarious as always and I enjoyed the references to the original translation.

A spot here or there was a little off with the sprite positioning (nudged a bit, not really bouncing), but that's easy to over look.

Great custom sprites! They fit in really well and you can tell a lot of work went into the episode as a whole.

Finally, I really enjoyed the ending sequence. It's more obscure than the last credit roll based off of Paranoia Agent, but it's unmistakable when you know what it is.

Here's hoping the next one will come soon. If you would like any voice work or anything else, let Wyldfire1 and I know. We'd both be extremely happy to participate in anyway possible.

Clovis15 responds:

I really wish I could lock down on the nudging, as I am terrribly aware of its constant presence, but Flash continues to give me the finger on this. Maybe it's a Flash 6 thing, I will be making the next episode of CTU with Flash 8; man, believe you me, there are some bugs from Flash 6 that I am never going to miss once I complete that upgrade.

Thank you for saying the Iria credits are unmistakable, it lets me know my many hours of maddening work were not all for naught.

Don't worry, I'll be sure to consider you two if I have voicing problems.

Needs more editing...

This could be a reasonably well made flash if some obvious and nagging issues are addressed.

The biggest problem with the Flash is that your sprites bounce around. You CANNOT just drag sprites over each other and expect it to look right! There is a place on ALL sprites which will always remain the same, allowing you animate any number of poses or movements from.

Because you didn't take the time to animate the sprites correctly, you get this bouncing mess of things which completely detracts from any kind of entertainment and screams "NOOB!!!!" You never want this.

It takes another five seconds when doing an animation to zoom in to 2000% and line up your sprites correctly using onion skinning. You're not the only person to not pay attention enough, even some of the Phoenix Wrong animations suffer from this and they are scored rather well.

Learn to correct these problems in the future and your animations will not only score better, but you'll be able to produce better quality work

acerookie1 responds:

thanks i respect that.

Not great, not bad, needs some work

The lipsynching wasn't terrible, but it could use some work. The best advice is to up the frame rate and go frame by frame.

Nice little script there in the beginning making people think you're insulting them, though. That's pretty funny!

cHunter responds:

Yeah, that's what I was doing for the most part for the lips, but the audio went out of sync for some reason. It synced up on my computer, but when I uploaded it, it decided to wack out. :(

Not bad...but needs some work on the synching

Well...I hate to say it, but I really believe that people are voting higher on this than they normally would simply because of the song used.

The characters were really out of synch in a lot of places and the overall animation was very slow. In addition, the sprites jumped around a bit, as the author didn't really find their "anchor point" at all.

Considering this is your first submission, it is decent, but on the next submission people won't be as forgiving. Increase the frame rate, make sure your sprites don't move around, and really make sure that your synch is spot on.

All those things make a sub-par Phoenix Wrong submission into a good one, and a good one into a great one. The rest has to do with audio selection. Keep up the work and keep learning.

moviemaker1127 responds:

you are right. I did use frame rate 12, a mistake I made halfway through the video. I tried to fix it but it screwed over the rest of the beginning and I tried to make due. Im guessing that synchronization would be 10x easier with a larger frame rate. also, if you could, along the lines of anchor points, how do I create efficent ones? It was hard enough trying to onion skin and border my way to synch them up. Also, some of these jumps and movements were created on their own, somehow, toward the end of this animation, things started moving. I don't know why maybe it was something I pressed. If you could provide with some tutorial, that would be awesomely helpful. ^-^ thanks!

Heavy storyline driven, but not much else

The animation was really lacking. While it had the Madness characters, most of the movie was just a lot of static text which just popped up. There was really only one part that had any animation, and it was very short.

I understand the concept of the movie, but the presentation just wasn't all that exciting.

TehBoss responds:

Ok, whatever. Anyways, thanks for the review :).

Excellent as always. Truly epic

I have to say, this was even funnier than the last episode. Everything flowed and fit in very well. The secret scene was awesome, too.

I wish it was a little longer, but that's a personal preference.

I certainly hope the next episodes comes out soon!

Clovis15 responds:

If my work permits, Episode 18 will be out before the end of this year. Don't ever expect to see episodes be much longer than this ever again. With all the little touches and effort I put into every episode of CTU, it is just murder on myself to make something like Episode 16.

Decent, not great. Okay, not perfect.

Well, it's a funny song and that's what most people are going to be voting on, rather than the actual quality of the animation.

Your lip synching was good, but the entire animation as a whole felt lacking. You need more dynamic shots of the characters while they are performing.

Work on the placement of your sprite as well, because there were several times when they'd move around when transitioning between poses, and they weren't always in the right spot for the stills (Phoenix too far from the left side and it left an obvious gap, for instance, when looking forward with his right and on his hip).

It was just okay for me.

perpetual-mind responds:

thanx.
i know theres quite alot wrong with it but its all in the process of learning.
i found it quite awequard to get the characters to lip sync correctly and move how i wanted to since i was limited by the sprites i had, but i made do with what i got.
every time i watch it back i realise new things that arent right, so if i ever make another sprite movie i should be able to avoid alot of these mistakes XD
